What's New for 2013

Squirrel Incognito 8"x10" Watercolor

Wow, it's been a while since my last post! I kinda dropped off the face of the earth with my updates, post, and pictures. It's been a constant battle trying to be a mom of four kids, and building a business, and my post have suffered for it. There is so much happening, and I'm so excited for this upcoming year; I wanted to take a moment and fill you in!

My shows for 2012 ended in December, and I far exceeded my expectations for the year! I met so many wonderful people, and got a lot of fantastic feedback. I was left inspired, and excited to paint for 2013!  Now that the holidays are over, I have hunkered down in my studio and have started to paint once again. I will paint everyday for the next five months in attempts to turn all my silly, sweet, and sometimes strange ideas into inspired watercolor collections! Some of my designs will include cats, squirrels, hummingbirds, owls, and of course children.

I have also been listen to the needs of my customer and realize the time has come to have my own website. This is probably long over due. I want you all to know this is in the works! I hope to have a website for Tracy Lizotte Studios up an working for later this year for all your shopping needs including matted and framed art. It will also be the place to go to see what's new, and to answer all your questions.

During this time I will also be completing projects for licensing. In future post I will fill you in on what's been released to stores with my designs! Here is a hint: flags, fabric, welcome mats, coasters, cutting boards, mugs, magnets, and more!

I'm also in the mist of filling out applications for shows for this year. It's a tedious and necessary chore. I have an impressive line up of shows for this season! I will again be showing in Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, and Rode Island;  and added several new shows in Connecticut, and New York. I'm even looking to add shows in Pennsylvania and New Jersey to my season! I will release my show schedule in another few weeks.

It looks like I have plenty to do, and if that's not enough I'm also coaching basketball, and of course there is alway my family and house chores to tend to. The clock is ticking, and with fingers cross I can get it all done!

That about sums it up.

I'm off to drink something with caffeine in it!

Bird Tree

I had an idea of making a tree full of different birds, and I challenged myself to paint it - and I did! Here is my bird tree collection.

It is made up of twelve individual paintings, and when they are assembled together they form a tree:)

Here's what it looked like when I was making it. I had to tape all the paintings together so I could get a cohesive look with the background.

Goldfinches

Chickadees

Yellow Warbler

Finches

Bluebirds

Rose Breasted Grosbeaks

Evening Grosbeaks

Waxwings

Blue Jays

Cardinals

Nuthatches

Robins

Some of my favorite birds are in this tree. Now it's your turn! If you were to make your own bird tree what birds would you want in it?

Cat and Butterfly

One of the first paintings I ever sold was of a white cat and a butterfly on its nose in a field. I painted it when I was 13 yrs old and sold it in a sidewalk sale; the first one I ever participated in. It's funny to me how I can remember certain paintings from my past. I decided to reinvent that painting today with this one:

Ok, ready to laugh?
I went looking for my old photo album of my childhood art and found a picture of that cat! Here it is:

Oops! I guess I remembered it a bit differently - I thought the butterfly was on the cats nose. Maybe I'm destine to paint one like that some day. Lol.

Get ready to laugh again:)
Here is my very first art display in the Portland Sidewalk Art Festival when I was in High School:

I actually sold art that day and was hooked from then on to create and sell my watercolors! I love to paint watercolors just as much now as I did back then:)

Fun with Cardinals

I'm still on an animal kick and these next two painting have been influence by Cardinals.

This one is called A Squirrel Dilemma.

This painting is based on our newest barn cat, Velcro (We named him that because he sticks to us like velcro). He is quite a character and this scene fits him perfectly. I call it The Predicament.

I had a lot of fun with these Cardinals!

The Curious Cat

Here is a fun design just in time for spring! It's my curious cat:

I actually chased bees around in my mother in laws backyard on my hands and knees to get reference photos of them!

The best part of this painting is that Carsons has already chosen it for one of their garden flag designs. Yippee!
